Leeds YouthStrike4Climate

The world is finally waking up. Millions of young people are realising it’s now or never and are looking to take action on the climate crisis.

This is the group for the Leeds branch of the international movement trending under the #YouthStrike4Climate and #FridaysForFuture hashtags.

Following the actions of 16 year old climate activist Greta Thunberg in Sweden, we strike every month on a Friday.

On the 27th March 2019, we pushed Leeds City Council to officially declare a climate emergency. We will keep protesting until the national government follows step. We will keep protesting until climate justice is embedded in the UK’s agenda, until the UK recognises its responsibility to its citizens and the rest of the world in taking seriously the climate crisis and ecological emergency we face as a civilisation.

This is the start of a global shift.
