Leeds BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) is a new group which has emerged from the outrage against Israeli attacks on Gaza. We have found that each time Israel strikes there is anger and protests, but when the bombs stop, so does the action. We want to pour all the anger and tears into effective, long-term action.
The BDS movement takes inspiration from campaigns against South African apartheid and was started by a a call from Palestinian civil society – trade unions, NGOs, women’s groups and others. It is a global movement that has racked up many victories. The movement seeks to make Israeli apartheid economically unviable and redress the power imbalance against the Palestinian people.

We have decided to focus our efforts in Leeds specifically on campaigns which target Sainsbury’s, G4S, Coca Cola and Leeds City Council to adopt BDS. So look out for upcoming events and get involved!
