As a follow up to the workshop at Summat New, this page on the Hannah Directory website is a loose collection of people and resources connected with devolution in England.
Hannah Directory is a yearly print publication, website and launch event celebrating all the great stuff people are doing in places in England’s north and asking how even more of it can happen?
It finds great stuff happening in the arts, music, business, new kinds of social organisation, scientific discovery and anything else.
The Directory celebrates the possibility of cooperation between people and places in the north of England for our common good, and the 2014-15 edition has almost 50 contributions from Newcastle, Gateshead, Durham, Sheffield, Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester, Stockport, Preston, Barrow and Liverpool, limited only by the time needed to put it together and the cost of printing.
The Directory launch celebrations in 2014 were covered in the media across the north of England including a live outside broadcast on the BBC Radio Manchester breakfast show, articles in the Big Issue in the North, Yorkshire Evening Post, The Lancaster Guardian, the Evening Mail in Barrow, Blog Preston, Now Then magazine (Sheffield), the Alt-Sheff website, the New Start blog of the Centre for Local Economic Strategies, and numerous posts on social media by contributors to the Directory and well-wishers in places across the north.
The launch celebrations for the 2015-16 Directory will be the week of Monday 8 to Sunday 14 June 2015.
The Directory is named after suffragette and rebel Hannah Mitchell.
