Come make costumes with us for our upcoming Flash Mob performance (more details below). We need mermaids, river creatures, dirty-frackers, haz-mat suited Environment Agency workers, and trustworthy scientists.
We will also be making banners detailing what is in fracking waste and what the health risks are.
Please bring any spare fabric you have, any sewing kits or sewing machines. The more craft stuff the better!
ABOUT THE FLASH MOB
On the 5th of May, Frack Free Leeds will be filming a fantastic flash mob performance around the canals and rivers in the south of our lovely city. Why? Because as one of only 4 places in the UK where fracking waste can be processed, there’s a lot of horrible waste headed our way, and we want to let people know about it so we can stop it!
Join the mermaids from Yorkshire Life Aquatic, circus performers, breakdancers as we dance our way through a funny yet informative flash mob. Suitable for all ages and abilities, over 3 hours we will teach you everything you need to know, and film a fantastic video we want to go viral!
GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT
Join us on Saturday the 21st of April from 3-5pm for a public meeting at St Margaret’s Hall, Methley, where we will be learning more about Fracking, what’s in Fracking Waste and what risks it poses to public health and the environment.
We are pleased to host a Q&A session with Julia Collings, who has a PhD in treating highly toxic waste water. We will present a showing of Power Trip, a documentary about fracking. There will also be family friendly activities from Cyclops Pedal Power as people arrive.
GOT YOUR FACTS? GOT YOUR COSTUME? SEE YOU ON THE DANCE FLOOR!
