There is a triple paradigm crisis comprising a failing neoliberal economic system, an inability to recognise fully the limits to growth due to anthropogenic impacts on biosphere homeostasis and an international security paradigm focused excessively on control. To work towards a more sustainable and peaceful global system requires an approach which recognises the complex nature of the crisis and how the three components interact, but such recognition will help ensure that progress is possible.
