CALLING ALL WOMEN AGE 16 – 30! Studio12 are working in partnership with Khadijah Ibrahiim, Leeds Young Authors and Boomsatsuma on an exciting new transnational project… The worlds largest online exhibition of spoken word! What’s in store? You will receive opportunities to express your views and develop your spoken word with established activist, playwright and poet Khadijah Ibrahiim, as well as showcase your work in the exhibition!
“As the world becomes more divided and countries fall into isolation it is vital that our young people raise their voices in support of global unity. Borderlines offers the perfect opportunity for young people across the UK and Europe to connect, consider the meaning of the word ‘borders’, and to discuss how they affect them in their personal, public and political lives. Working with a team of prominent UK poets and spoken word artists, the international exchange of voices has begun.” – Joelle Taylor, Artistic Director
Three sessions at Leeds Central Library (room TBC):
Mon. Jan. 21st, Tues. Feb. 5, Tues. Feb. 26 (5:00 – 7:00pm)
You will need a ticket for each date, and can only book tickets for yourself.
To express your interest in joining the project email: studio12@leeds.gov.uk
Please prepare for the first session a poem or idea that relates to borders:
Do borders affect you personally, publicly or politically?
Do they affect your sense of belonging?
Are borders affected by austerity or ethnicity?
Please also bring any existing poetry you may have to share.
Please note: We use an inclusive definition of ‘women’ and ‘female’, welcoming participants who may identify as non-binary, cis-gendered, or trans.
