We’re On Fire is a night where young climate activists can celebrate the achievements of various groups with fantastic music from Leeds-based bands, hopeful speeches from climate heroes and delicious vegan food.
Over the past couple of months, young people have been using their collective voice to tell politicians and business people that they care about their future. In Leeds, this has directly led to the council passing a climate emergency, whilst young and old activists across the country teamed up to force the government to declare one.
Now it’s time to take a moment, celebrate these huge achievements and then learn how we can do even more for the planet!
The night will feature the music of Growth Spurt and Scum (Leeds-based punk bands), Aiden Johnson (an indie rocker playing a mixture of covers and original), an acoustic session and chants.
There will also be speeches from representatives of Youth Strike for Climate Leeds, who were instrumental in getting Leeds City Council to pass the climate emergency and from representatives of Extinction Rebellion Youth Leeds, who were key organisers in the 5 day roadblock of Victoria Bridge. There will also be the chance to come up and tell everyone why the cause is so important to you.
