For very small children, those scared of the dark, and grown-up fairy lovers who want to get a good look at the craft involved, you can visit the Fairytrail Garden during the daytime on December 20th.

Around the garden will be a series of decorated minature tableau reflecting fairy life in our garden during the year.

Santa’s sleigh will be parked outside the barn and you can try it for size; his elves will be along helping to distribute a small gift to each child. Not sure if Santa will be with us so early in tne morning!

Afterwards join us around the campfire, or retire to the cafe in the barn for hot chocolate, spicy Christmas drinks and mince pies. The cafe will be open for basic hot food and cake and there will be some lovely natural gifs for sale too.

Why do we need to book for craft?

We have found in the past that crafts could get very overcrowded which made it a less enjoyable experience for everyone. Some children just don’t enjoy craft, so it seems much fairer just to charge and take bookings separately. Come for the whole event and just find your craft slot at the time you have booked it.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Fun for everyone from young to old. You need to buy a ticket for all children from toddler upwards, babes in arm go free. We don’t charge for adults as we know you might want to bring extra grownups too, and we want the event to be affordable for all families, but we will ask for a donation of at least £2 per head on the door. The money raised by the event will go towards work in the Hollybush garden.

The event is run by volunteers from the Friends of Hollybush, current and ex-volunteers and current and ex-members of staff.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking on site is very limited so is only available for those with disabilities.

A variety of buses run close by, and Headingley Railway Station is only 10 minutes walk.

What do I need to bring into the event? Are there any safety issues?

The garden is not paved, so you will all need to wear sensible outdoor shoes. It can get muddy too. It may take you 30 minutes to 1 hr to look around the garden (this will depend on your children) so do wear clothes that are appropriate for the oudoors. The fairies will rig rain shelters for the display but they won’t be big enough to cover you!

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Contact us at Hollybush-events@tcv.org.uk

What’s the refund policy?

Apart from severe weather (downpour, gale, deep snow) this event will run. We will move as much as we can indoors and under temporary shelters. Wrap up for the forecast and get on down!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Following some problems at a previous event please do bring you printed ticket with you, if you get your tickets from a friend please do bring the printed copy as if we don’t have the booking on the list we need proof to go to eventbrite/paypal to track the ticket money. PLEASE be able to quote the name used on Eventbrite to book the tickets.

If you buy from the cafe we need the paper ticket.

PLEASE let us know if you are booking only part of a group in, and the others are still expected.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn’t match the person who attends?

That’s fine, we know you might want to book in groups, that children fall ill and that life is sometimes more complicated than on-line booking allows. See the comment above though, make sure you bring the ticket and are able to quote the name it was booked in..
