We need all hands on deck to establish our forest garden. This is an opportunity to learn about permaculture design while getting hands on experience. We have 4 apple trees and two Autumn Olive trees to plant. The ground cover plants will mostly be arriving later in spring so there will be another planting day.

The land on our second allotment plot has been covered for over a year and is now free of weeds ready for planting. We will be lifting the ground covers and then shaping the land into swales (mounds in line with the contours) the aim is to catch and store run off rainwater, raise the trees higher above the water table and create more south facing micro climates. This will involve using a Rotavator and then digging the into mounds the more people the merrier. This will be a big task so we hope you can come and bring your friends along.

We can lend out some wellies, overalls and rain coats if you don’t have them but wear warm clothes you don’t mind getting a bit mucky. We have a shed with benches and a table so place to shelter from the elements.

I will bring a big pot of hot food and some flasks of hot water but if you have capacity to bring some extra food or drink to share that would be welcome.
