On the first of June 350 supporters of EDL founder and self-styled YouTuber, Tommy Robinson, marched unopposed and largely un-policed through Leeds City Centre.
Tommy’s Robinson’s, aka Stephen Yaxley Lennon, entirely preplanned and self-imposed arrest/martyrdom is being used to use to try and rebuild a racist street movement.
The #FreeTommy marches taking place and planned across the country, along with those of the DFLA are an attempt to rebuild a racist street movement following the death of the EDL and faliure various other projects.
Tasteful as ever the date of 07/07 has been chosen for this EDL MK2 to once try to take over the streets of Leeds.
The people of West Yorkshire have a proud tradition across generations of standing against and defeating racist and fascist organisations; whether the BUF in the 30s, the NF in the 70s and 80s, as well as the BNP and EDL.
We are calling on the good people of Leeds, West Yorkshire and beyond to oppose the #FreeTommy march, in whatever way they can, and to counter the politics of bigotry with the politics of solidarity.
Leeds Anti-Fascist Network believes in mass and effective action to deny a platform for fascists to organise in our streets.
We advocating and building a politics of solidarity to tackle the issues that fascist feed of in society.
