Mitsuko Sonoda (an evacuee from Fukushima) and Prof. Keith Barnham (Physics, Imperial College) will be discussing why nuclear power is not only dangerous but also fails to solve our low carbon energy security needs.

Mitsuko Sonoda was living in Fukushima with her 8 year-old son at the time of the nuclear disaster and chose to evacuate. Alongside many of Fukushima’s mothers she is working to keep children safe, share information, and convey the reality of living with radiation. She has written extensively on the continued problems of the nuclear clean-up and lack of government transparency on the issue.

Keith Barnham is Emeritus Professor of Physics at Imperial College London, an expert in energy security and an author of “The Burning Answer: A User’s Guide to the Solar Revolution”.

The event will be chaired by councillor David Blackburn.
