For those who haven’t been able to come to any of the Cooperative Development Sessions yet we’ll give you a quick recap:
– A group has come together who are interested in starting a queer housing cooperative !
– Chaco (Chapeltown Cohousing) are selling 3 properties in the Chapeltown area and they are keen to sell them to cooperatives !
– There is an opportunity to get £4,000 grant from Homes England to help with the initial stages of development for a community lead housing group ! https://www.communityledhomes.org.uk/get-funding/community-led-homes-start-support-programme
– New update ! Is that Yellow Brick Road a housing cooperative originally formed in Brighton are looking for a place in Leeds.
We are making good progress, last time we discussed some core questions people had about how a housing cooperative might work and how best to get involved. If you would like to see the answers to those then follow our Facebook page Green Wood Housing Coop where we will be posting these questions and the cooperative community will be answering them as best we can.
We want to be help groups to fast track their cooperative development – helping create their aims + vision, apply to funding, find members, working out finances and all the rest of it.
ChaCo have kindly offered to host the next event giving us all a chance to have a look around 1 of their 3 houses that will become available.
