Although this event is being coordinated in conjunction with GMB Union, we welcome anyone (whether in a Trade Union or not) with an interest in LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace to come along & participate in this event.
We’ll be opening the event with food & refreshments to make this more accessible for those coming straight from work, so the first 45 minutes will be for dinner and networking.
The event itself will be split into two focus areas:
– We’ll be welcoming Tom Metcalf from Pinsent-Masons, who are 2nd place in the 2018 Stonewall Workplace Equality Index to provide his thoughts & reflections on what he believes are responsible for the organisations success. This will lay the foundations for group discussions on what actions GMB can take forward to focus on developing LGBT+ inclusion in the workplaces, and how they can support LGBT+ staff/members.
– GMB provide ad-hoc support for various LGBT+ community groups (such as the Angels of Freedom Leeds), so the second part of the event will be focused on discussing & identifying priority areas and organisations that attendees feel should be undertaken in the community.
Proposals will be created from the event discussions to take forward with the Yorkshire & North Derbyshire GMB region.
