Holistic Restoration

Blending natural climate solutions, rewilding and regenerative agriculture to create landscapes that restore our world and our role within it.

Author Miriam McDonald will be presenting her ideas over cups of tea and cake from the Barn Cafe on Meanwood Farm. Then we will have a bonfire afterwards (bring some drinks and instruments). Donation’s accepted on the door to help cover room booking and travel costs.

The talk will lead us through the development of the relationships between people and landscapes. We will look at the changes in thought and practise over the last few hundred years that have lead us from landscapes of sustenance to landscapes of profit. The impacts that this has had and the backlash that they created in the form of organic agriculture and the conservation movement. How these evolved into the environmental movement leading us to ideas around sustainability and how these ideas are evolving once more, progressing towards restoration.

We will look at rewilding as one face of restoration and regenerative agriculture as the other face, both within the context of carbon capture and climate change adaptation.

We will conclude by looking at the functional role of people in restorative ecosystems and the benefits that emerge when people are allied with nature’s self will.
