Community Protection Training – Say NO to Homelessness! (by Acorn Leeds)

With the government confirming their plans to lift the ban on evictions on the 24th August and Shelter predicting that 230,000 renters are at risk of homelessness due to arrears, we are predicting an avalanche of evictions in the coming months.

But we will not stand by and allow renters who’ve lost work and income due to the pandemic to be forced out on the streets by landlords more concerned with filling their pockets than public health. We cannot stay home and stop the spread of the virus if we have no home to return to. So, we will be training up our members and community protection teams in eviction resistance. No homelessness on our watch!

The training will take place at 7pm on Zoom on Thursday 20th August. We have already put on this training once in July, but we are repeating it so we can get as many people as possible skilled up and ready to defend our communities. So come along, and let’s make sure we’re prepared to defend our communities, loved ones and fellow tenants from the threat of eviction. #HousingIsHealth
