Polly Higgins is an inspirational example of ‘Daring to be Great’! A barrister and international lawyer, in 2008 she launched a campaign to have ecocide (extensive and long-term environmental destruction) recognised as a crime under international law.
Her campaign has received massive support and publicity and she continues to challenge the global forces of inertia and corporate greed with a principled alternative that could truly ‘change the story’ on the protection of the global environment
‘Count this as year 1 of your new life – how great could it really be? That depends on you. Do you dare to be great? What opportunities could that bring? I am exploring – and daring – myself to be great and I reach out to you to do so too. Just imagine what a new world we can bring into being when we dare to be great… ‘
