SUMMARY:Mothers Rise Up March On Climate Change Leeds
DESCRIPTION:Mothers Rise Up is a movement led by mothers demanding drastic action to prevent catastrophic climate breakdown and protect our children’s future. We are connected by love for our children and resolution to act. As in nature\, there is nothing more powerful than a mother’s instinct to protect her child. \nWe stand behind the science and in complete solidarity with the youth climate strikes\, but we cannot leave it to children to tackle a crisis that previous generations have created. As parents and citizens\, we can and must use our voice\, our votes and collective power to demand action. \nIndividual action is important but nowhere near enough. Responsibility lies with governments and big business to fundamentally change course so that we can lead lives that protect our threatened shared home. \nOur plan On 12 May\, International Mother’s Day\, we will come together and rise as a maternal force.\nWith pushchairs\, placards and song\, we will gather at Millennium Square at 12 noon demand the government takes urgent\, drastic action to address the climate crisis. \nWhile our movement is powered by mothers\, we welcome anyone who is moved by love for a child and by love for our planet to protest: grandmothers\, aunties\, child-minders\, friends; those yet to have children\, those who can’t and those who have chosen not to. Equally\, we welcome the support of fathers\, grandfathers\, uncles\, brothers and friends. We all make a difference. We are all custodians of our threatened home. \n
