We want to build stronger links between organisations and youth in the UK who all believe in the same goal. \nFor those who are interested we will also be working on a policy statement over the weekend which will be published and stand as a call on the government to listen to the youth voice. The idea is for this to be shared at the global Conference of Youth (COY) which takes place before the COPs every year (this year taking place in Chile and next year here in the UK). This is a way to share the ideas of youth who are unable to participate in the negotiations of the COP and to make sure they have a voice in the proceedings. If you want to get involved in the international climate scene\, this is a great way to start \nKEYNOTE SPEAKERS\nMichael Weatherhead – Wellbeing Economy Alliance \nCaroline Hickman – Facing Difficult Truths- Climate Psychology Alliance \nWe are also organising a ‘Climate’ Ceilidh for the Saturday\, so come along to blow off some steam after a busy day of workshops! \nCan’t wait to see you there!\n______________________________________________________ \nLCOY stands for Local Conference of Youth\, an initiative of YOUNGO\, the official youth and children NGOs constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).\nYOUNGO is a volunteer-run non-hierarchical consensus-based organisation comprising a membership of 200+ youth-led and youth-focused NGOs\, with around 6000+ individuals who work\, study and campaign in the field of climate change and environmental sustainability. It is also known as the International Youth Climate Movement (IYCM). \nIn 2014\, YOUNGO began to host Local COYs (LCOYs) in countries and regions all over the world as local versions of COY. LCOYs were created to enable youth to participate in YOUNGO without requiring travel to the Global COY. At LCOYs\, youth are organised as part of national and regional movements: they train and learn from each other\, they develop positions on national and international policy issues\, and they benefit from a global youth network made up of YOUNGO members and LCOY participants. In 2018 alone there were 20 different LCOYs hosted by youth all around the world. \n______________________________________________________ \nFor more information\nemail: lcoyuk2019@gmail.com\nwebsite: lcoyuk.wixsite.com/lcoy\ninstagram: lcoyuk\ntwitter: @LCOYUK \n
