DESCRIPTION:\n\nAn exciting and practical event to help embed food growing and address climate change in your school\n\n\n\nOutline\n\nThis course provides an opportunity to meet local experts and learn about how outdoor learning and sustainability can be delivered through the curriculum.\n\nDescription\n\nThis event will help to embed food growing as part of your ethos and food culture and ensure that you meet statutory requirements of the Design and Technology curriculum and meet criteria as outlined the DfE’s Healthy schools rating scheme\, supporting pupils to grow food to be used in school meals. There will be an opportunity to explore Meanwood Valley Urban Farm’s unique setting\, meet local experts and learn about how outdoor learning and sustainability can be delivered through the curriculum. \nThis event will include practical information and support for schools around how to grow and meet curriculum requirements as well as advice on accessing resources and funding. \nGuest speakers will include Feed Leeds\, LESSN\, Grow to School\, ReThink Food and of course our education specialist farmer from Meanwood Farm! \n\nOutcomes\n\nEnsure your school is meeting statutory requirements within the curriculum \n\nLearn how to engage pupils with where their food comes from\nFind out about resources and teaching materials for growing\nHow to teach pupils about the climate emergency\nLearn about school watering systems\nHelp address hunger as a barrier to learning\nA chance to meet local experts and experienced gardeners\nShare best practice for embedding growing through a whole school approach\nUnderstand how to use food produce in schools\nGain ideas for growing with little or no outside space\nFind out how to access farm visits and in school support\n\n\n\nBooking Information\n\nHealth & Wellbeing SLA credit value = 1 credit \nCost: £125 per delegate.\nSchools with a current Health & Wellbeing SLA may be entitled to pre-paid places subject to sufficient available training credits.\nThe full ‘PAYG’ price will be applied if you have insufficient training credits. \nFor further information please contact schoolwellbeing@leeds.gov.uk\n
