Many things we took for granted turn out not to be. The pandemic has laid bare the many weaknesses of current economic and welfare systems. Their dependency on economic growth has meant that many people have lost their jobs and incomes or are at risk of doing so. Prioritising growth also remains a barrier to tackling climate change effectively. Milena will discuss the relationships between growth\, climate change and wellbeing\, and ask whether the Covid-19 pandemic opens up new opportunities for re-building our economic and welfare systems based on ideas of postgrowth and planetary boundaries.
