DESCRIPTION:We are at a turning point in human history. \nIt’s becoming clearer every day that the Government isn’t capable of getting us out of the coronavirus mess\, or preventing climate breakdown. They are more concerned with getting us back to “normal” as rapidly as possible. \nBut it’s normal that is killing us. \nWe’re facing an airport expansion that will completely obliterate Leeds’ carbon budget\, and is a direct contradiction to the declaration of a climate emergency by Leeds City Council. \nSo as the UK lock-down begins to ease\, we stand at the crossroads\, with everyone who is demanding change and with our Leeds specific demands: \n?Prioritise health OR prioritise profit. We have a choice. \n?? Expand Leeds Bradford Airport OR create a greener future for Leeds. We have a choice. \n?Bail out people and planet OR bail out the industries that are killing us. We have a choice. \n?? Increase air and noise pollution OR protect the citizens of Leeds. We have a choice. \n?Mass extinction OR mass participation. We have a choice. \nWe demand that LCC refuse the expansion of LBA and protect the citizens of Leeds. That they put a safe\, green future before planes and profits. That they follow the precedent set by Bristol\, Heathrow and Stansted. That they take this chance to make Leeds a leader in the North when it comes to sustainability. \n#NoGoingBack #DecideTogether \nWe will come alone\, or with our household.\nWe will bring signs that show the truth\, and ask for change.\nWe will stand\, distanced\, for an hour\, to honour those we’ve lost\, and demand better for those to come. \n#NoGoingBack #DecideTogether \nIf you can’t get to Millennium Square you can still take part.
